Nail Enhancements: After Care
Proper maintenance will help prolong the wearability of your new set of enhancements. By following these simple guidelines below, you can enjoy your nail enhancments for longer periods of time whilst being sure that your natural nails are kept in good condition and free of any bacterial infections.

Tip #1 - Cuticle Oil!
Invest in a good cuticle oil like EZFlow’s Essential Oil Plus. Not only does a good cuticle oil aid in the growth of healthy nails, it also conditions your cuticles and keep your nail enhancements flexible. Nail enhancements that are flexible are stronger and will not break so easily.

Tip #2 - Be Gentle!
Please do not use your new nail enhancments as “tools”! Although they are strong, such excessive and repetitive pressure on your extensions will be bound to result in micro cracks or micro shattering. This weakens the structure of your extensions, which will then lead to breakage. For example, use the sides of your thumb to open can drinks instead of your nails and learn to use your fingertips instead of your fingernails when opening drawers or reaching for an object.

Tip #3 - No picking!
Over time, constant pressure through the use of our hands will result in slight lifting of the product around the cuticle area. Please refrain from picking or peeling lifted product as this will only cause further lifting and potentially damage your natural nail plate. Prevent nail damage and call MissVainJane at 62211408 to schedule an appointment for a professional infill maintenance at the soonest time possible.

Tip #4 - Nail Files only
If you notice an uneven corner or a rough edge, you may use a 240 grit nail file to gently file away the problem area. Do not use a nail clipper or pick at the area as the pressure will cause micro-shattering or weaken your natural nail foundation.

Tip #5 - Regular Infill Maintenance Schedules
It is extremely important to stick to a regular infill maintenance schedule. During your infill maintenance, your nail technician can repair any lifting and check the overall condition of your natural nails and nail enhancements. Prolonged periods of nail enhancements lifting will result in contaminates and moisture being trapped in between your nail plate and enhancement. This is turn encourages bacterial growth (also called “Greenies”). The results are a greenish or brownish stain left on your nail plate. Bacterial infections are contagious and must be treated. Please call MissVainJane to schedule a free consultation as soon as possible if you spot any discolouration of your nail plate.

Tip #6 - Do not use nail glue
If your nail enhancements are lifting, do not use nail glue to try to glue the lifted area back to your nail plate. The glue may trap airborne bacteria or spores (psedomonas bacterium) into the lifted area. The results are a greenish or brownish stain left on your nail plate by a growing bacterial infection. Bacterial infections are contagious and must be treated. Please call MissVainJane to schedule a free consultation as soon as possible if you spot any discolouration of your nail plate.

Tip #7 - Wear Gloves
Get into the habit of wearing gloves to protect your hands from chemicals or solvents (e.g. when performing household chores or gardening). Even frequent contact with water can cause hands to become dry and nails brittle. Wearing gloves will help maintain the integrity of your nail enhancments and prevent service breakdown.

Tip #8 - Nail length
The higher your activity level, the shorter your nail length should be. Our nails are constantly being subject to repetitive downward tip pressure. The higher our level of activity, the more downward pressure our nails are subject to. Excessive downward pressure may result in breakages or nail plate damage from excessive tugging. Keep the length of your nails in check and always use a 240grit nail file to shorten the length of your nail enhancements if they are too long.

Waxing: Before & After Care
Avoid immediate exposure to the sun (at least 48 hours) before and after waxing and wear a sun-screen as recently waxed areas are prone to hyperpigmentation (permanent darkening of the skin) if exposed to the sun.
Avoid heavy exercise for at least 10 hours after waxing to prevent aggravating recently waxed areas.
Avoid saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools and other heated sources for at least 48 hours minimise irritation
Do not use exfoliating products (AHAs, scrubs, etc) and loofas until at least 24 hours after waxing.
Avoid tight clothing after waxing, especially in the waxed areas as it may result in irritation and/or ingrown hairs.
Avoid deodorants and anti-perspirants for 24 hours following an underarm waxing treatment.
Regular exfoliation may be helpful especially on leg and arm areas.
Routine waxing helps the skin get accustomed to the procedure and may minimise irritation.
Unfortunately, no shower or oral sex for 10 hours after a Honeymoon or Hollywood (brazilian) to minimise aggravation to the skin around the area.
Apply Perron Rigot’s moisturizing lotion and/or refreshing gel daily after depilation to soothe skin.
Apply Legolé's Anti-Ingrown Hair Aqua Conditioner & Hair Retardant to remove in-grown hairs and reduce hair growth for better waxing results. Regular exfoliation 2 times a week also helps reduce ingrowns.
Do not scratch areas that may itch due to hair re-growth as it may cause micro-abrasions resulting in minute scabs that heal over the skin and prevent hairs from growing out (resulting in ingrowns). Use Perron Rigot’s moisturizing lotion and/or refreshing gel to soothe irritated skin.
Women may experience extra sensitivity to waxing up to a week prior to the beginning of their menstruation.
Waxing is appropriate for almost everyone, however, there will always be exceptions to the rule. Prior to your waxing appointment, inform your therapist of any allergies and medications you are taking – it is for your protection. See our Allergies & Contra-indications list for more information or call us for more information.

Lash Extensions: After Care
If you have individual lash extensions on, use a lash comb to gently comb your lashes in an upward motion much like when applying mascara.
Avoid rubbing and pulling your lashes.
When washing your face, do take care to wash around the eye area and avoid rubbing your eyes.
Avoid oil-based cleansers, lotion or make-up remover. Gel cleanser is recommended.
Use makeup remover on a cotton swab to gently remove makeup around the eye area.
For hard to reach areas, use a Q-tip to carefully clean around the eye.
Do not apply mascara on lash extensions - the ingredients in mascara may cause the bonding agent to deteriote. Traditional eyelash curlers are also not recommended - you shouldn't even need them now that you have beautiful curly lashes!
Remember to visit your favourite therapist every 2-3 weeks for regular maintenance to keep those lashes looking groomed!
